ON CAMPUS JOBS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

Any college student looking for a job would like to have something convenient. After all, the job they get should not be their main focus. Most students want to study, socialize, party, and have a job on the side to pay some or most of the bills.

Finding jobs for college students is down right discouraging right now in this economy. Students that have jobs are likely to hang on to them longer than they normally might have in years past and everyone with jobs are not giving them up. This makes finding a job that much tougher in an environment that already has fewer jobs than normal.

On campus jobs often pay less than jobs that are off campus and this is because they are jobs in the library, dorms, or some other place associated with the college. If it is a state school, many of these jobs will actually be state jobs as the college is funded by the state. When you work for the government, which you might technically be doing, your pay might be less than you could make at a real retail establishment or restaurant.

The advantage of getting an on campus college job is that you will be close to work and can walk back and forth. It is very convenient  to have this type of set up where you can easily get to and from work. You might want to consider this option even though you could be making less if your time is valuable to you.

Right now you should probably be open to any job you can get whether it be on campus or off. However, many college students love to have jobs where they don’t have to commute back and forth and for this they are willing to take a lower pay if necessary. Most jobs college students can get only pay minimum wage or close to it anyway so why not work close to where you live on campus so that you you have more time to study and play.
