You will most likely have to interview to get any type of a job, whether it be an hourly part time job or something higher paying and more permanent. There are more people in all age groups of society than there are jobs right now so the competition is high and the ball is really in the employer’s court. When you interview for any job there is one thing you must make sure you DON”T do. That is, to come across as bitter, frustrated, angry, or any other adjective that might show that you are upset with how hard it is to find work.

Many of you have been looking for a long time and been through many interviews. It is getting old to never be called back or to not get any hint that you are getting closer to a job. The more interviews you do and the more failures you have, it becomes easy to let your frustrations show. Put yourself in a recruiter’s position: would you hire a college student who is negative and appears upset or would you hire someone who acts as though this is the first interview and they are ready to get going on the job if hired. Interviewers and recruiters can tell if you are upbeat and positive and they will probably only choose those that are. So, if it seems like forever since you started looking for a job, take a look at the things you say in an interview and your body language. Perhaps you need to change some of those right away to give yourself a better chance.

If you can, you should try to get a college job that you can work part time (or full time) that may turn into a full time job when you graduate. In other words, rather than working at the college library, rec center bowling alley, or some other on campus job, you might try to find something that can turn into a real job after you graduate.

While you are in college, you can get jobs that are part time in the field you are studying. If you are able to get one of these, the management can make a determination whether they like you. When it does come time to graduate, you will already have your foot in the door and have a much better chance of getting hired than you would right off the street.

It used to be that jobs for college students could be anything that paid the bills and they still can be. The question must be asked at what point does a college education actually become counterproductive and actually a bad thing? That girl may never pay off those loans and she may be in debt for the rest of her life with a degree that won’t make her much money even if she does decide to pursue a job in that field. Being in debt is bad no matter what kind of debt it is and that is the problem with our economy and country right now: we are all in debt!

The reason jobs for college students are so hard to find is because the economy is crumbling. Our United States government is in more debt than ever before and it is effecting all facets of business with no end in sight.

President Obama has proposed taking the student loan system out of the hands of private industry and having all loans go through the government. His reasoning is that the government can give students a lower interest rate than private companies and thus make it easier for them to pay off their loans. However, that does nothing for the absolutely out of control prices of a college education nowadays.

Since when is worth it to pay upwards of $100,000 just to get a degree? All that money just to get a degree that you may never use and then be released into a world where there are no jobs? Students used to be able to get a college job and be able to work their way though college and pay everything off in a year or two. Now, if you can get a job in college, you are probably only covering room and board and not able to make any dent into the loan itself. That loan will have to wait until you graduate and get a job (if you can get one) and it may take ten, twenty, or even thirty years to pay off.

College costs HAVE to come down and they have to come down now. If we want to have the younger generations be competitive with the rest of the world, college has to be affordable. Right now it is no where near affordable and that has to change.

The bad news  in 2010 is that more so than ever before, good advice might be to take any job you are offered rather than hold out for something better. College students that are graduating anytime soon are going to have a very big decision to make: what type of a job are they willing to take and how low are they willing to go on the job ladder?

If you were born 20 or 30 years ago, the situation might have been different and a college graduate might have been able to take a very nice job right out of college. Of course it depends on what field you are in and that might even be possible today for some disciplines. However, for the majority of students, just graduating with a degree does not in any way guarantee a job.

That is why you have to make a decision on whether you are willing to take some entry level job that you may not really want or hold out and gamble for something better. Once you graduate college, your bills will continue to pile on as you will need to pay for an apartment, food, healthcare, clothes, recreation expenses, and all other costs including perhaps that college loan. If your parents where helping you out financially during college they most likely will end that help once you graduate.

This means that you will need more money than ever and holding out for better jobs in this economy might be foolish. Jobs for college students and graduates are in higher demand than they have ever been in recent memory and much harder to find. Because of that, if you are lucky and can get an entry level job somewhere it might be the best choice to take it even if it is not your dream job. Taking that job will allow you to pay the bills and bide your time until you can get something you really do want!

One of the things that is impacting everyone in the United States is the continued outsourcing to different countries of jobs due to cheaper labor costs. Higher and higher taxes here makes is harder for companies to hire American workers when they can get the same jobs done for much less overseas. The Obama administration is continuing down the road of “taxing the rich” as well as high taxes for companies and it seems he just doesn’t understand that higher taxes mean less jobs.

People of all ages and all incomes are now finding themselves out of work and this makes the prospect of finding jobs for college students one that is extremely difficult and unenviable. If you are graduating this year after four or more hard years of studying, the very real possibility that you won’t be able to find a job is one that is extremely troublesome.

At this point, it may be wise to take a job after graduation that you might not think you want just so you have a job. It is always easier to find a job if you have a job it seems, and being hired for almost anything seems like a victory in today’s economy. If you hold out for one of the jobs you really want, you may be going a very long time unemployed.

With the economy doing so poorly and with no end in site, you need to understand that any job is a good job right now. You mustn’t let your ego or your desires overpower good common sense that tells you to take a job even if it is not the perfect one for you. There will always be time later to try and get a better job but getting that first job out of college is always the hardest. And this year looks like it will be harder than ever so take what you can get and be thankful for it.

The Internet has obviously passed all the tests and we know that it is here to stay. Right now, all businesses should have an online presence and so should you.

Whether you decide to buy a domain that has your name in it or some other term is up to you but you now have the ability to showcase your skills and show the world what you are about with your own site online. There are many things you can do with your own website that will help you get a job.
